As I watch you flutter by, butterfly,
are we joined now eye to eye, you and I?
I’d give anything, if so,
to know what you see below
on your journey through the sky, butterfly.
Wings so white against the blue, butterfly.
Aren’t we just two of a kind you and I?
Creatures trying to survive
and to keep the race alive
in the way that each must do, butterfly.
But I live with hopes and dreams, butterfly.
Perhaps this is where we differ, you and I,
or does your short life contain
joy and sadness that constrain?
I suspect of these you’re free, butterfly.
As you disappear from view, butterfly,
and we go our separate ways, you and I,
do you still hold thoughts of me
or am I alone to be
with my memories of you, butterfly?
I love butterflies … they seem to always fly away, but appear whenever you don’t expect them and make you smile …
The wonders of Nature. Yesterday I saw a spider about the size of a pinhead that still managed to hang from a strand of silk attached to my book.
Fantastic, and i am really liking that header photo.
Countryside is so beautiful
Thanks Richard. Yes, it’s of a valley in Switzerland.
A very nice poem. A lovely blog … a little bit of nature heaven here. Nicely done.
Thanks very much Jamie 🙂
This is lovely, Jan.
Butterflies are one of life’s creatures that always seem to make a person feel better when they see one. 🙂
Thanks Paul. A few days ago one settled on the edge of my glasses while I sat outside, which made quite an impression (not on the glasses, of course) 🙂
Beautiful butterflies blissfully unaware – to what purpose, one wonders
To survive and prosper, I suppose 🙂
