A woman at work on a case
Of a butler who’d left in disgrace
Saw at once in her brief
He could not be the thief
Now he’s found in her service a place

Those who say CO2 one must fear
And who threaten with measures austere
Should an example show
For the cause strike a blow
And stop breathing for one day each year

Last day of the warm summer weather
Encroaching on autumn’s domain
Tomorrow it’s back to a changeable type
With more wind, cloud, occasional rain

And temperatures once more near normal
For early October it seems
Which most find a pity, not sporting at all
After spoiling us with these extremes

I think of that tropical island
Where long ago I was employed
Days sunny not hot with a shower around six
And a sea breeze that never annoyed

I’ve been around all kinds of weather
From haboobs to tropical storms
At sea and on land, both in fear and in awe
Of the wonders that Nature performs

Winds of change

There’s a windmill near the bottom of the garden
that twists and turns to face oncoming blows.
It turns airflow into electron motion,
but with a lot of mindless stops and goes.

It’s ugly, huge, and stands there so defiant;
immune it seems to mad quixotic dreams.
Its moans disturb my daily natural rhythms;
I pray for calm and cower from its extremes.

The old ones somehow merged into the living,
performing tasks on which all could depend,
able to store the products of their labours;
the wind a hard taskmaster but a friend.

I wouldn’t mind so much its forceful presence
if I believed the promises were true,
but still we need those power station turbines
to keep a steady supply coming through.

I know some will just laugh at my suspicions
and say my words are lame – not of the hour,
but I still see in manmade global warming
the imprint of man’s other thirst for power.

Living planet

“…there is nothing which the wise man must more guard against than the temptation to live for praise, and to study what pleases the crowd. Rather truth should be made the guide of one’s life, so that if one must needs speak against all men, and be in ill-favour and in danger for virtue’s sake, he shall not swerve at all from that which he considers right.”
Address to Young Men on the Right Use of Greek Literature by Basil the Great, 329 – 279 BC

The winter’s back with nightly frosts
And cold but lifting sunny days.
Though early darkness hovers still
The lighter evenings bring a thrill.

(Critique of corporate climate science)

How normal can this weather be
When climate changes day to day?
An ice age could be here quite soon
Or broiling heat to make us swoon.

Let some suppose that they can see
The future cast by Nature’s eyes
But she does not reveal her ways
To those who only live for praise.

One can read about the life and philosophy of Basil here

Almost every day I read of costly measures being introduced or planned to deal with “toxic” carbon dioxide emissions, for which the taxpayer must carry the burden. The ridiculous thing is that there is still no proof of global warming, for which manmade carbon dioxide is said to be responsible – a natural trace gas that is necessary for life on this planet!

CO2, that we breathe out
And trees and plants can’t do without
Is now a danger to mankind
An enemy to be confined

Still no proof of global warming
Or that CO2’s performing
Any untoward effect
Nothing, therefore, to correct

Pollution properly addressed
Might tax the rich more than the rest
And would involve not just the few
But those exploited by them too.

Never-ending war on terror
Costing lives while some get rich
Windmills need coal, miners dying
Madness reaching fever pitch

Climate change is only warming
Hands that rub from carbon tax
Lining pockets of the wealthy
Lies replace unpleasant facts.

Subterfuge, misinformation,
Chaos in their arsenal
Whispers dull the native senses
Apathy subliminal.

Enemies are good for business
Masses hear the bugle’s call
Fear the driving force that holds them
Finally to make them crawl.

Too few try to work together
For the good of humankind
Selfish motives overwhelming
Never will solutions find.

Nature watching in the shadows
Seeks perfection for the race
Those destructive will be vanquished
And impatience grows apace.

Interesting video from New Zealand’s Professor Robert M Carter, one of the world’s leading palaeoclimatologists.
It can be found here on the site of the Science & Public Policy Institute.
As he says “All scientists are skeptics”.
Theories are dependent on facts and not the other way round.

“And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.”

I read in the newspaper today that according to Australian scientists the Earth could become inhabitable for humans by 2030 due to man-made global warming. As if we needed more predictions of doom based on dubiously relevant data and oversimplified models. I’ll make an equally valid forecast: the Earth could become inhabitable for humans by 2030 due to global cooling. But, of course, anything in between is also possible.

Spring attempts to make us joyful
not so tales in black and white.
Troubles now and in the making
blind our natural insight.

Trampled by the heel of passion;
reeling from the TV screen
sending blows of inspiration
turning everything to green.

Even those that live in freedom
from the world that man creates
must adapt or suffer blindly
from his constant needs and hates.

Whether in the deep dark jungle
or the backyard where what grows
Nature’s clinging by its fingers
to the edge of No One Knows.

Let us hope the power external
can help man to better ways
so that he may find the wisdom
and the skeptics still amaze.

A poem critical of the motives and science behind global warming

Bend facts to serve the theory
that’s how science works you know.
There’s too much at stake to
heed those who
insist on saying no.

We’ve grants and reputations
to protect from shaking heads
and our lifestyle must be
while wicked slander spreads.

The fraud involving the facts supporting the theory of man-made global warming, committed by scientists and politicians to enforce carbon taxes on the world population, is still being perpetuated. Their refusal to instigate an independent inquiry into the affair lends even more support to those who suspect their motives to be purely political and financial.

According to secret documents acquired by Fox News, the UN is secretly planning a new “green” world order based on the myth of global warming. The taxpayers of the “richer nations” are going to pay for it to the tune of $45 trillion dollar.
From the Fox News article I quote:

Despite the debacle of the failed Copenhagen climate change conference last December, the United Nations is pressing full speed ahead with a plan for a greatly expanded system of global environmental governance and for a multitrillion-dollar economic transfer scheme to ignite the creation of a “global green economy.“‘

It’s time for governments to tackle the real issues of pollution, if they dare, instead of playing into the hands of charlatans and scam artists.

A headline from an American online newspaper:

“Still haven’t got your swine flu shot? There’s plenty left”, see here.

More government waste of taxpayers money, not only in America. You won’t hear the pharmaceutical companies complaining though.

It’s time for responsible scientists and politicians to take a stand against those who are flaunting the principles of science for their own gain.
Even though investigations into the Climategate scandal involving top scientists and government officials are in full swing and new reports of corruption appear in the media almost daily, there are still scientists who forge ahead with outlandish and costly proposals for combating global warming. Climate changes constantly:
hotter, colder, up and down,
then a lot and later little,
records often noncommittal.

Man’s polluting that’s a fact.
Industry has made a hell.
All must try to curb the trend,
not point the finger to defend.

Twisting facts for power or wealth
just delays through sown mistrust.
Caretakers of Earth are we,
with hands to change our destiny.

But as ever few are free.
Heads not hearts rule most today.
Fear of losing what they own,
has thwarted capture of what’s flown.

With most of The Netherlands lying below sea level there is much government interest in the prophecies of the climate fortune tellers, especially the one about rising sea levels. As reported on 20 December in the UK Telegraph newspaper:

“The head of the UN’s climate change panel – Dr Rajendra Pachauri – is accused of making a fortune from his links with ‘carbon trading’ companies, Christopher Booker and Richard North write.”

Also reported by the same newspaper:

‘Gordon Brown is drawing up plans for the European Union to become a global warming “policeman”, monitoring individual countries’ compliance with carbon-cutting targets.’

So the Copenhagen Conference hasn’t produced the goods, or has it?
Even without an accord over the reduction of CO2 emissions, an agreement to form a regulating body to be paid for by the already heavily burdened taxpayers was forged out by western leaders. To anyone reading between the lines it is becoming clear that the real issue was always the setting up of such a world governing body. As the European President, van Rompuy, publicly stated:
“The climate conference in Copenhagen is another step towards the global management of our planet.”
As reported two days ago by The New York Times online in this article:
“The (Copenhagen) accord provides a system for monitoring and reporting (my emphasis – Jan) progress toward those national pollution-reduction goals, a compromise on an issue over which China bargained hard. It calls for hundreds of billions of dollars to flow from wealthy nations to those countries most vulnerable to a changing climate. And it sets a goal of limiting the global temperature rise to 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by 2050, implying deep cuts in climate-altering emissions over the next four decades.”
The system referred to above is an extended bureaucracy of the UN that will be set up to manage the money and govern the flow of it using the IMF and the World Bank.
The important point is that none of these institutions is run by persons unelected by the people. Elected representatives can only offer advice which may be accepted or ignored. Once installed, therefore, this bureaucracy can grow further in importance at the will of unelected rulers.
The hope is that in countries where elected governments still have some control, such as America, Australia, and India, this move towards a dictatorial world government can still be halted.

When global warming is seen as an enemy we should be aware of what Herman Goering, Hitler’s second in command, said when he was standing trial at the Nuremberg Trials for war crimes, “… the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”

Damning revelations are continuing to emerge from the murky waters of the man-made global warming (AGW) issue. See this article.
It’s obviously more about gaining wealth and power than saving the planet – what a surprise. Data and reports are being manipulated by UN backed scientists kowtowing to the politicians and their elite masters. Leading members of the gloom-and-doom brigade, like Gore, are collectively going to make trillions from the selling of carbon credits.
The world wide policing of carbon emissions will heavily penalize taxpayers, already reeling under the blow of the financial collapse.
People, including journalists, seriously protesting in Copenhagen against AGW are being attacked and ridiculed for no good reason.
Isn’t it just awful?
If the world’s leaders today support this disgraceful state of affairs and reach an accord without asking for independent investigation of the issue then that says a lot about their motives.
