Soppy, soggy poetry
Is something I can’t stand
Or sit, staring at nothing
Just symbols in my hand
Soppy, soggy poetry
Is often about love
Lost, found, regurgitated
And often sought above
Soppy, soggy poetry
Emotions running wild
Each one an imp of mischief
Like some pea-shooting child
Soppy, soggy poetry
It seems is here to stay
As many wallow in the mire
Of hurt and disarray
Soppy, soggy poetry
Sometimes can bring a tear
Especially when helped along
By servings of good cheer
Soppy, soggy poetry
Perhaps I’m just unkind
To rile and to belittle
Those who in solace find
Soppy, soggy poetry
Why won’t you let me go?
You know I can’t resist a glance
Before up I must throw
