The house martin’s flying
The turtle dove too
They flit here and there
Doing things they must do
I sit here and watch them
So wild, unconcerned
And wonder why I
Not their freedom have earned
The scent of food cooking
Drifts now on the breeze
From somewhere quite near
Wafting my way to tease
I look at my watch
That shows now it is five
And soon I’ll be eating
Not to stay alive
The Earth turns in silence
And speeds on its way
A home to we threesome
For another day
Eternity calls
With a voice soft and sweet
It says that we met
In those moments complete.
